About this generator
The tool offers twelve tonic spellings and two scale types: major and natural minor. Each scale shows seven degrees plus the repeated tonic at the octave. Note letters progress in order, with appropriate sharps or flats, including double flats where needed. Playback uses equal temperament and a plain synthesized tone; it does not require a music API.
How to use

Choose a starting note, or leave Random tonic selected to draw from 12 tonic spellings.

Choose Major, Natural minor, or Random type.

Click Generate Scale. The scale name and eight notes, including the octave, appear below the controls.

Click Play Scale for a simple synthesized preview, or Copy Results to save the notes. Generate again for another practice prompt.
Use your results
Choose a scale to practice, see its notes, and hear a simple ascending one-octave preview. Your choices are generated in the browser without sending your inputs to a server. Changing the controls clears old results so the display always matches your selected settings.
