What is Random Chinese Name Generator
When writing a character, a name without pronunciation can leave you guessing. Choose a given-name length and get a surname-first suggestion with the family name and given name clearly separated.
How to use Random Chinese Name Generator
-
Choose One-character given name, Two-character given name or All categories. The surname is one additional character.
-
Choose 1–10 cards, then click Generate Chinese Names.
-
Read the Hanzi name and tone-marked pinyin below the controls. Each card labels the family name and given name separately.
-
Use Copy Results to save the names with their pinyin and field labels.
-
Change the length filter and generate again for a new batch. Names are suggestions and may coincide with those of real people.
Features
- 20 surnames combined with 10 single-character and 20 two-character given names.
- Mandarin pinyin with tone marks and explicit family/given-name labels.
- No automatic meaning, gender assignment or audio pronunciation.
Use Cases
For a compact character name, select a one-character given name; the complete Hanzi name then contains two characters. For example, 王安 is displayed as Wáng Ān, with 王 as the family name. Pinyin keeps the surname separate and joins the syllables of a two-character given name. Tone marks show dictionary tones, not changes in connected speech. Regional readings and personal preferences can differ.

FAQ
Is this a list of real people?
No. It combines a fixed list of surnames and given names for fictional naming ideas. Coincidental matches with real names are possible.
Does one-character mean the whole name has one character?
No. It describes the given name only. The surname adds another character, so the full name has two or three Hanzi characters.
Are meanings or gender included?
No. This version supplies Hanzi, Mandarin pinyin and the two name fields. It does not infer a name meaning or assign a gender.
