What is MHGU Random Monster Picker

This fan-made hunt randomizer helps you choose an existing large monster in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. It contains 93 targets: 75 non-Deviants and 18 Deviants. The optional weapon picker draws from the hunter weapon types you select.

An example challenge is Rathalos — Great Sword. It is a suggestion for your next hunt, not a generated quest or a recommended equipment build. Choose a quest you have unlocked and equipment you can use.

How to use MHGU Random Monster Picker

    1. Set Monster pool to all targets, non-Deviants or Deviants only.
    2. Expand Exclude monsters and check names to remove them. You can exclude all 93, then uncheck just the targets you want to allow. Search changes the visible list only.
    3. Enable Randomize weapon if you want an additional challenge. Select at least one of the 14 hunter weapon types.
    4. Press Pick My Hunt. Your result appears beneath the controls with a monster reference link and copyable challenge.
    5. Use Copy Hunt to share it, or draw again. When no-repeat exhausts your allowed pool, use Reset Draw History or change your pool.

    Features

    • Separate All, Non-Deviants and Deviants-only pools.
    • Searchable exclusions for individual monsters, including late-game targets.
    • Optional weapon selection from a user-controlled pool of 14 types.
    • No repeated monster while the default history option is on, until reset or page reload.
    • Last 10 draws shown for reference; all drawn targets count toward no-repeat.
    • Local random selection without a live game-data API or account.

Each eligible monster has the same chance on the next draw. Excluded and previously drawn monsters are removed before selection. Weapon types are selected independently and may repeat. Changing filters clears the current result but keeps draw history; turning off no-repeat permits earlier monsters again.

    Use Cases

Use it when a hunting group cannot decide on a target, when you want a different weapon practice session, or when you want a casual challenge after progressing through MHGU. Exclude monsters you cannot access before drawing. If friends need a turn order, use the random draft order generator.

The pool includes late-game monsters and is not a difficulty recommendation. Rank, quest availability, styles, Hunter Arts, armor and equipment compatibility are not selected. Prowler mode is not part of the weapon pool. Monster forms count separately when listed separately; Hyper quest versions do not receive extra entries.

Roster names and reference links come from the Kiranico MHGU monster index. The Ahtal-Neset encounter phase is omitted as a standalone target. This is an unofficial fan tool; Monster Hunter and associated names belong to Capcom. No official monster artwork, copied monster descriptions or game modifications are included.

    FAQ

Can I use the list for the original Generations?

Not as a version-correct roster. This page is specifically for Generations Ultimate and includes additional monsters from that game.

What happens when every allowed monster has been drawn?

The picker stops and explains how to reset history or change the pool. It does not silently start repeating targets.

Does Clear Result reset no-repeat history?

No. Clear Result removes only the visible challenge. Reset Draw History clears the drawn-monster set and recent list while keeping filters and exclusions.

    Are progress and preferences saved?

They are kept only while this tool remains open on the page. Leaving or reloading starts a fresh session.

Is this a full quest or loadout generator?

No. It chooses a monster and optionally a weapon type. Use the reference link and your in-game quest list to pick a suitable quest yourself.
