What is Random Movie Generator?
When everyone has a suggestion and nobody can decide, start with one random film. Leave the filters open or narrow the mood and decade, then check the result on your own viewing services.
This is a deliberately small, English-language shortlist of 20 films released from 1975 to 2020. It is not a full catalog, a ranking, or a live streaming search. Each film has one broad editorial genre label, even when it fits more than one genre.
How to use Random Movie Generator
Choose Genre and Decade, enter 1–10 results, and select Generate Movies. Titles, original release years, and genre labels appear in Your results beneath the controls. Select Copy Results to save the list. If your filters leave too few films, lower the quantity or choose All.
Features
Each matching title has the same chance. Films do not repeat within one batch, but can appear again on the next draw. For example, selecting Animation and 1990s leaves Toy Story (1995). Changing a setting clears the previous results.
Use Cases
Pick a movie-night starting point or a film for a discussion group. The list includes films intended for different audiences; check the rating and availability before watching. For episodic viewing, try the random TV show generator.
FAQ
Does it include every movie?
No. It uses a shortlist of 20 familiar films. Some genre and decade combinations have no matches.
Can I watch the movie here?
No. The tool selects titles. It does not stream films or check regional service availability.
Where do the years come from?
Titles and release years were checked against Pixar, Paramount, and Universal film materials. The list was reviewed on September 15, 2026.
